Welcome and Mission

Welcome to Byng School District:
The School of Choice

Values: We value quality, integrity, compassion, teamwork, and lifelong learning.

Mission: To prepare each student for the demands of tomorrow by providing him/her with the best, most appropriate education of today.

Pirate Pride is steeped in a rich heritage of excellence and tradition. The Byng district wraps around the city of Ada from the northwest to southeast. We have approximately 1750 students in grades PK-12 at five sites. We have an ethnically diverse student body.

Three of our sites are on the main campus in Byng: Byng Elementary (grades 4-6), Byng Junior High (grades 7-9), and Byng High School (grades 10-12). Francis Elementary (grades PK-3) is located two miles east of the Byng campus. Homer Elementary (grades PK-5) is located within the city of Ada on north Monte Vista. Byng Elementary has been honored as a distinguished state Title I school and as a national Title I school. Francis Elementary has been honored as a distinguished state Title I school. Homer Elementary is currently recognized as a No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education.

The educational staff at Byng includes twenty National Board Certified teachers. Byng teachers use a variety of technology to educate students. All classrooms are equipped with SmartBoards and computers. Students at each site have access to computer labs connected to the internet as well as educational software on our school network. In addition, both the junior high and high school now have mobile iTouch labs for classroom use.

Byng Schools is committed to providing a well-rounded educational program. Academic programs allow students to prepare for college as well as learn skills they will need in the workplace. Byng offers Advanced Placement courses, fields an Academic Bowl Team, and competes in scholastic contests across the state. Students also have numerous opportunities to develop leadership skills. Nine vocational programs: junior high business, high school business, Family and Consumer Sciences, Computer Assembly and Repair, Auto Mechanics, Tech Connect, Cosmetology, Horticulture, and Production Agriculture provide hands-on experiences and opportunities to develop career skills. Fine Arts programs including Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, Visual Arts, and Performing Arts allow students to express themselves and develop greater appreciation for the arts. Byng’s long tradition of athletic excellence continues with cross country, softball, baseball, basketball, golf, swimming, tennis, and track teaching students the values of teamwork, group goal setting, hard work, and dedication.

Byng students currently attend colleges from Yale to Washington University in St. Louis as well as many Universities throughout Oklahoma. These students are living testimonies to the success of Byng programs. Other students work successfully in businesses and trades across our state and nation. Both groups as well as children currently enrolled challenge Byng Schools to work hard to remain The School of Choice.
